WEEK 21 (Final project)

Tuesday 20th April

Today i went into college to watch the Level 2’s Grease rehearsals. I was with Molly and Ava who also watched the rehearsals. From the previous production notes i needed to get the actors measurements so Ava could begin preparing their costumes. We took each actor out one by one and i wrote down the measurements to send to Ava. I also made rehearsal notes of anything Jo needed, the next production meeting is on the Thursday 29th.

Thursday 22nd April

Today, i was asked to work in the theatre to do some light rigging. This was because it was something i wanted more experience in. In the morning i did various jobs such as attaching clamps to the lights, climbing up the ladder to attach wires and going up the tower to adjust lights. I learnt a lot about dmx cables and how they work, i had the job of arranging each LED lights mode and dmx/ adress numbers. I really got the hang of this and i really enjoyed it.

Later on in the day i helped Molly in the Workshop, she was making set for Grease. She made the car which turned out really good and she needed my help to attach the wheels. During this, we ran into some problems, one of which was that the car couldn’t stand up on its own so as a team we came up with a solution. A clever idea was suggested about making a T stand at the bottom of the car. I am looking forward to what it will look like when it’s finished.

WEEK 20

Today in college, i made props out of air dough, i made a strawberry, avocado, grapes and cheese. I had never worked with air dough before so i learnt what it was and i experimented with moulding it using different techniques. It was fairly easy to mould however it was tough to get a perfectly realistic shape of an object. My first attempt of the strawberry wasn’t too bad however i think if i did it again, i would of shaped it better. I really enjoyed getting to know how to make realistic props.

I had enough time to start painting my prop grapes, they are starting to look really good. I would like to carry on painting the props next week as i feel that they’d be useful for a show.

For the last session of the day i took part in a really useful workshop, learning all of the roles and responsibilities of each role in theatre production. I was focused on the role of DSM and from help with the year 2’s i learnt a lot and i feel more confident with the role. It was a really good opportunity for me to ask any questions i had, the answers i got back from the year 2’s were really helpful. On Thursday, the morning session was our last of Kristen’s online sessions. For the last session we played some fun exercises which i really enjoyed. The last exercise we played definitely got me out of my comfort zone, we had to find things around the house to make us look like a superhero. This was a really funny task and i had a lot of fun! Reflecting on Kristen’s sessions i have grown my confidence a lot. I am really happy that i took part in these sessions because i feel that communication with the group is easier and i feel a lot more comfortable with speaking to one another.

WEEK 19 (Silence in the Wings)

This week for working on Silence in the Wings the group and i managed to get a lot done. On Wednesday, we were in college, this was the first time coming into college for a while so it was nice to be able to get on with the project. Before going in I felt a little bit of nerves, however when I arrived I felt really happy to be back, we spent all day in the theatre. We began the day by setting up the set for Silence in the Wings and familiarising ourselves with what needed to be filmed.

We managed to film many parts of the Silence in the Wings performance. This was really helpful because it allowed us all to get the recording done as we had planned. I felt we all did a really good job. I was filmed as my role of DSM, I was anxious i would mess up but i think the end result was good. I haven’t yet seen the recordings but i’m happy we all managed to get the filming done and i think the end result will look really good with all of the sections put together. I am really happy with how today went.

For Thursday, we were back online. We joined Kristen's session and discussed how we found it at college. I shared that I felt really happy to be back at college and I really liked seeing everyone. In the session we did some exercises including guess who. This took up most of the session time because everyone was enjoying their selves and taking part. As always, the session was really enjoyable. I feel that Kristen's sessions have had a big impact on my confidence and performance, they have helped me a lot to become more confident and to communicate better with my group.
