Wednesday 9th December 2020

Today in college I helped my class mate gather some props for the level 1 and level 2 Christmas shows, which I will be stage manager for next week. We gathered as many props as possible and we had the job of making quite a few. Once I had helped my classmate I continued to work on sewing, I helped sew face mask pushes for the charity idea. I struggled to get my head round the process at first but I managed to complete a couple of pouches.

Thursday 10th December 2020

This morning in college I watched the Christmas dance show, which I really enjoyed and I then wrote a review on it straight after. The review had to include 'methods used to convey meaning' I wrote down some key notes of the performance down straight after the shoe so I wouldn't forget and struggle. In the afternoon I headed to the theatre to begin working on the show next week. With help from a level 2 classmate, I learnt what I would be doing on the show. I made key notes and gathered together a script which I read through and made more notes on.

I managed to complete my target which was to complete any tasks i was asked to do.

Target: My target for next week is to attend both the rehearsals and shows next week and try my best at the deputy stage manager role.

Wednesday 25th November

Today was a busy day of prop making. In the morning I was assigned a task with a classmate to make a melted snowman. We came up with a really effective and simple idea. We headed to the art room to plan and measure how big we wanted it. We decided to use foam and mod roc to build the layers up. This was a fun process however the mod roc took a while but the end result was worth it. Once my class mate and I were happy with the melted snowman we painted it white. I then made a carrot nose and two coal eyes using foam and mod roc, then painted each.

In the afternoon I helped some class mates who were in charge of props to collect a large list of props for the level 2 show. This was challenging because there was many props on the list that needed to me made. For example we didn't have 'rose petals' so using old red fabric, we cut out some petal shapes.

After this, I made some mask bags for our class charity idea. I was shown how to make them and I found the process really complicated at first. Using the sewing machine is not one of my strong points so I struggled, however I managed to complete one bag. I could definitely use with some practise.

Thursday 26th November

Today I was absent as I had hardly slept due to a horrible migraine, I had completed all my college work so I wasn't behind on anything. I attempted to go onto my laptop to see if there was anything I could complete but I was in a lot of pain.

Target:

As we are online again next week, my target is to complete all my online tasks and plan and carry out a practical task.

Tuesday 3rd November

In todays online session I carried on editing my website as usual. In the second half of the session we had a task to complete which was to gather a list of materials and plan how you would make a 10ft tall dragon needed for a show. At first I was clueless as to where I would start but I started by listing the basic materials such as paint, fabric, sticks. I then drew this on paper so I could get a clearer image of what materials I needed for each part of the dragon. I was proud of my design as I only had an hour to complete it however I wanted to re draw the plan in more detail.

Wednesday 4th November

This morning, we were sat and told that we would be making a small scale model of the dragons we designed on Tuesdays online session. I had planned my dragon on paper, however I decided to re draw my plan more specifically as I now had access to the materials in college. After I planned all the measurements and materials needed, I started to make the wings of my dragon.

First I measured and cut 6 pieces of wire (10cm each) and glued them down to some cloth using a hot glue gun. I also cut out any other small bits I need such as white sharp teeth, spikes for the face, red eyes etc.

Then for the body, I struggled because I didn’t really know where to start so first I tried using thick foam as the base. After many attempts of cutting it into the correct shape, when I attached the wings on, it didn’t look good at all.

So I took inspiration from other class mates and for my second attempt I used wire which worked and looked much better. I managed to complete the b base of the body but i ran out of time.

Thursday 5th November

In todays theory session, I checked off everything I had completed for the unit 1 Alice work, including mining the text which was my target. I needed to complete my set design and two reviews. The set design took me a long time because I had to make sure I drew it the plan out to scale. With help, I got the resources I needed and measurements information. I had to also find the measurements of each set object and cut them to scale. I really enjoyed organising each set object onto their designated scene paper.

After I completed my set design for Alice, I had time left to start my review on my makeup design. I found a classmate who did a makeup design for the same character as me: The Cheshire Cat and I compared our designs. My classmates design was amazing and i got a lot of inspiration from it.

Target

As I will be self isolating for the next two weeks, my target is to stay focused at home and complete my tasks to the best of my ability as I would in college. I also took home some mod roc and materials to make a crown so I would like to experiment with these in the two weeks I have away from college.
